Toxicity | An element used clinically as one of its salts. It is effective against both mania and depression. Despite its effectiveness, there are no clear mechanisms that have been directly related to its therapeutic effectiveness although its inhibition of the formation of inositol from inositol phosphate is thought to be important. At therapeutic concentrations, lithium causes almost no discernible psychotropic effects in healthy humans. The major complaints when the serum concentrations of the drug are carefully monitored include slight muscular weakness, thirst, and excessive urination. The major difficulty with lithium is that a fairly high concentration of the ion is needed in the blood (0.5_x0002_1.0 mmol/L) for maintenance, higher for acute mania. Toxic symptoms (which can involve many physiological symptoms) may occur, however, at doses of 1.5 mmol/L or higher. This low therapeutic index is indicative of the need for regular monitoring of lithium concentrations in the serum. |
Raw Materials | Lithium chloride |
silvery white soft metal. Melting point 180. 54 deg C; Boiling point of 1347 deg C, there are data for (1336±5) deg C; d20 0.534. Mohs hardness 0.6. It is hardly oxidized in dry air at room temperature. The lowest reactivity in the alkali metal, but can react with nitrogen. Chemical reactivity is very high, and halogen, sulfur, phosphorus and other intense chemical reaction, causing combustion. In the humid air or water, acid reaction release hydrogen and heat, can cause combustion.
lithium metal is used as a raw material and is distilled at a low temperature for a long time to precipitate lithium containing a large amount of impurities. The apparatus is cooled and filled with refined argon gas, and then subjected to distillation at a higher temperature to collect purified lithium metal, and then subjected to repeated distillation to obtain highly pure lithium.
It is used for making each battery, non-ferrous alloy, and the like.
has a strong corrosive, eye and skin contact cause irritation or burns. Staff should be protected. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Protection from direct sunlight. Operation in argon treatment. Shall be stored in aliquots of oxidant, fluorine and chlorine. Production personnel should be protected and the workshop should be well ventilated.

toxicity | see lithium metal. lithium can irritate the skin and mucous membranes. Production personnel should wear work clothes, protective masks, latex gloves and other labor protection articles to protect the respiratory organs and skin. Production equipment should be sealed and the workshop should be well ventilated. |
Application | is mainly used for the production of various lithium batteries, light lithium aluminum alloy, used as degassing agent for metallurgy for the manufacture of batteries, non-ferrous alloys and dating, etc. used as catalyst in chemical, pharmaceutical, non-ferrous alloy, synthetic rubber industry. Is the production of high-purity lithium raw materials. organic synthesis, pharmaceutical intermediates and other fields. used in the production of lithium batteries or pharmaceutical industry used as reducing agent and hydrogenation agent, alloy hardener, deoxidizer in copper and copper alloy, also used in organic synthesis mainly used in the production of various lithium batteries, light lithium aluminum alloy, synthetic rubber, pharmaceutical industry, etc. |
production method | The electrolytic method uses Anhydrous Lithium chloride as a raw material, is added to an electrolytic tank, heated and melted, and then electrolyzed to obtain a finished metallic lithium product. The 2LiCl [electrolysis] → 2Li Cl2 ↑ vacuum distillation method uses metal lithium as raw material, and it is distilled at low temperature for a long time, and lithium containing more volatile impurities is precipitated on the cooling tube. After that, the device was cooled and filled with refined argon, and the cooling tube was replaced with a new one along with the cap of the mill. Then, a vacuum of <0.1-kPa was drawn and the formal distillation was carried out at a higher temperature than before. Finally, after the apparatus was sufficiently cooled, argon gas was filled, the mill cap was opened, and the metallic lithium purified from the cooling tube was scraped off with a spatula or the like, and this distillation operation was repeated to obtain a high-purity lithium product. The product is supplied in a cylindrical ingot with sound of 90 × 160, each ingot weighing about 500g. If the demander has other requirements, it shall be separately agreed by both the supplier and the supplier. |
